Overview:

This project is a self-paced eLearning course designed to help employees recognize signs of mental health challenges in the workplace and respond appropriately with empathy and professionalism.

 

Project Title:
Recognizing & Responding to Mental Health Needs at Work

The Problem:

Many employees want to support their coworkers but feel unsure about:

  • What signs to look for

  • How to approach someone

  • What to say without overstepping

This lack of confidence can lead to missed opportunities for support or unintentional harm.

The Goal:

To create an engaging training experience that helps learners:

  • Identify common signs of mental health concerns

  • Respond in a supportive and appropriate way

  • Understand boundaries and available resources

My Role:
Instructional Designer & eLearning Developer

Articulate Rise, Storyline

 

My Process:

1. Analysis

Identified learner challenges around recognizing and responding to mental health needs in professional settings.

2. Design

  • Created a structured 5-lesson course

  • Focused on real-world application

  • Incorporated reflection and scenario-based learning

3. Development

  • Built interactive lessons in Rise

  • Integrated Storyline activities for deeper engagement

  • Designed scenario-based interactions to simulate real conversations

4. Implementation

Developed a self-paced course allowing learners to engage with content at their own pace.

5. Evaluation

Included knowledge checks, reflection prompts, and practical scenarios to reinforce learning.

The Solution:

A multi-module interactive course that combines:

  • Real-life scenarios

  • Reflection activities

  • Practical response strategies

Learners are guided through recognizing warning signs and practicing appropriate responses in a safe, simulated environment.

Results:
Improved awareness and confidence in responding to workplace mental health situations.
